Rodent service

Rodent Proofing in Sacramento, CA

Closing every opening a rodent can use, in material it cannot chew through. This is the part that ends the problem instead of managing it.

Exclusion is a repair, not a service

Every opening a rodent can use is closed with material it cannot chew: galvanized steel mesh, sheet metal, hardware cloth and mortar. Not foam, not caulk, not steel wool pushed into a hole.

That is the whole difference. A monthly bait service is a subscription; the rodents keep arriving and you keep paying. Exclusion is a one-time repair to your house, and once it is done properly the route is gone.

What gets sealed on a Sacramento house

On the newer tile-roofed houses that make up so much of Elk Grove, Roseville, Folsom and Rocklin, the roofline first: the open ends of the first tile course, attic and gable vents re-screened to rodent-proof mesh, and the junctions where roof planes meet. The standard is the one UC agricultural research sets: anything larger than a quarter of an inch gets sealed.

On the older raised-foundation houses in Sacramento, West Sacramento, Davis and Woodland, the base of the building as well: crawl space vents re-screened in steel, the access hatch made to seal again, and the foundation and sill checked for gaps.

On every house, each service penetration - plumbing, gas, electrical, the air conditioning line set, the dryer vent - gets packed and collared, and worn garage door seals and door sweeps get replaced. Where plumbing or sewer entry is involved, it is identified separately, because it is a different repair.

FAQ

Rodent Proofing: common questions

Do you seal the house before or after trapping?

Before. The entry points are sealed first so nothing new gets in, and then we trap and monitor what remains inside until the space is confirmed clear. Trapping an open house means catching rodents while more keep arriving.

Will the sealing work be visible from the street?

Mostly not. Vent screening sits behind the existing vent face, and penetration work is at ground level or in the eaves. Where something will be visible, we show you before we do it.

Can I not just foam the gaps myself?

You can, and rodents chew straight through it. Foam and caulk are air seals, not rodent barriers. The materials that work are the ones a rodent cannot get its teeth into: galvanized mesh, sheet metal, hardware cloth and mortar.
