Rodent service

Rodent Control Services in Sacramento, CA

Rodent control that ends with a closed house rather than a service contract. Rats or mice, attic or crawl space, the job has the same four parts, and skipping any one of them is why so many rodent problems come back.

Rats and mice are the same job at different sizes

People usually call about one or the other: scratching in the ceiling at night, droppings in a kitchen drawer, something chewed in the garage. Which animal it is changes the details - a mouse gets through a smaller gap and a rat does more damage once it is in - but it does not change what fixes it.

Both need a way in, a sheltered place to nest and something to eat. Take away the way in and the other two stop mattering, which is why the work is built around the building rather than around the animal.

The four parts, and why none of them is optional

Find. The free phone estimate comes first. Where the source is not obvious from the call, the Entry Point Diagnostic follows: a technician goes into the attic and the crawl space and works the roofline and the foundation, so the entry points are written down rather than guessed at.

Seal. Every opening larger than a quarter of an inch is closed in galvanized steel, sheet metal, hardware cloth or mortar. That is rodent proofing, and it is the part that decides whether you are calling again next year.

Trap. What is already inside is taken out with traps and the Rat Vac system, not poison, so nothing dies inside a wall or under the floor where it cannot be reached. Trapping runs over several days rather than one visit.

Clean. Droppings, nesting material and contaminated insulation come out, and the space is sanitized and deodorized with TwinZyme. The scent trail left behind is what leads the next rodent to the same spot.

Why Sacramento houses need both ends checked

This region has both rats, and they come in at opposite ends of the house. Roof rats use the trees, fences and utility lines to reach the roofline, and on the newer tile-roofed houses the open ends of the first tile course are a ready-made way in. Norway rats live low, along the rivers, the levees and the storm and sewer lines, and come in through a crawl space vent, the foundation or a damaged drain line.

Mice add a third route. The farm ground around Davis, Woodland, Dixon and south of Elk Grove holds them all season, and they move indoors when the fields are worked or harvested. That is why an inspection here covers the roof, the structure and the plumbing, rather than stopping at the attic.

What you do not get

You do not get a monthly contract, a ring of bait stations around the house, or a technician who checks a box from the driveway. Bait and quarterly visits manage a population; they never close the building, which is why they never end.

What you get is a repair, finished once and backed by a 100% money-back guarantee.

FAQ

Rodent Control: common questions

Is this different from rat control?

Rat control is one part of it. Rodent control is the whole job - finding the entry points, sealing them, removing what is inside and cleaning up after - and it covers mice as well as rats. Most homes need all four parts, and the estimate tells you which.

How do I know if it is rats or mice?

Droppings are the quickest tell. Mouse droppings are small, roughly the size of a grain of rice; rat droppings are noticeably larger. Heavy movement in the ceiling at night leans rat, and activity in cabinets and drawers leans mouse. You do not need to be sure before you call.

Why not just put out bait?

Bait kills rodents somewhere you cannot reach, usually inside a wall or under the floor, and the smell follows. It also leaves the way in open, so the next one arrives on the same route. Trapping takes them out of the house, and sealing stops the next one.
