Tamarac began in the early 1960s, when a young developer named Ken Behring bought land here and built an active adult community of two-bedroom homes that needed little upkeep. He took the name from the Tamarac Country Club in Oakland Park. Its first development, Tamarac Lakes, went up east of State Road 7, and later sections were built on a former orange grove. Today the city has about 72,000 people on 12 square miles.
The boundaries still show how it grew, narrowing to a sliver in places on the east side. Woodmont Country Club is on NW 80th Ave, HCA Florida Woodmont Hospital is on N University Dr and the Tamarac Branch library is on W Commercial Blvd. The Tamarac Sports Complex is on NW 77th St, and Waters Edge Park is on NW 61st St.
Villas, lakes and older communities
Many of the early homes here are decades old now, so the small details have aged: vent screens, garage seals and the gaps around lines added over the years. Where a community association looks after the exterior, some repairs at the roofline or on a shared wall may need its approval. We are glad to explain what we found to the association or to a family member. Attached homes also change the search, because a route can run from one unit to the next. Part of the city was built on a former orange grove, and yard fruit and mature trees still give roof rats a way to the roof. Many homes also sit near lakes or golf courses, and that open ground is worth a look when mice are the problem.
Rodent control when the exterior is not yours to change
In an association community, a pest control company may already visit on a contract, and it may place bait stations around the buildings. That covers the grounds. It rarely answers why there is scratching above one particular bedroom, because nobody on that route is asked to find the opening.

Can a family member call for me?
Of course. A son, daughter or neighbor can ring the Pompano Beach line on your behalf, and we will go through the findings with whoever you choose.
Will my community association need to approve the work?
Sometimes. If the repair touches a roofline, a shared wall or anything the association maintains, approval may be needed first. We can explain the findings to them.
Do I have to sign up for a pest control plan?
