Rodent service
Rodent Proofing in Salt Lake City, UT
Closing every opening a rodent can use, in material it cannot chew through. This is the part that ends the problem instead of managing it.
What gets sealed, and with what
Utah State University Extension sets the standard we work to: seal every hole and opening larger than a quarter of an inch, using heavy materials such as concrete mortar, sheet metal or heavy-gauge hardware cloth. Not expanding foam, not caulk, and not steel wool pushed into a hole - a rodent removes all three, and a freeze-thaw cycle helps it along.
On a valley house that means the basement level first: window wells sealed where they meet the foundation and covered where they need to be, basement window frames closed up, and the rim joist and every service penetration through it packed and collared. Then the garage door seal and the garage-to-house corners, the dryer and bath vents, and the roofline where snow and ice have opened the eaves and soffits.
Sheds, garages and the woodpile
A detached garage, a shed or a woodpile against the wall is very often where the population lives before it moves into the house. We look at what else is on the lot and tell you which of it matters before the work is priced, not after.
What it is not
It is not a bait station, a quarterly visit or a treatment. Nothing about exclusion needs renewing, because a sealed opening stays sealed - which is also why the guarantee can be written against it.

The whole rodent job in one place: finding how mice or rats are getting in, closing it, taking out what is already inside and cleaning up after. Four parts, one repair.

Most of the work in this valley. Mice move into basements and garages when the weather turns, through gaps the width of a pencil. We close the openings and remove what is inside, rather than refilling bait every month.

The rat in this valley is mostly the Norway rat: a burrower that lives low, along the Jordan River, the canals and the drain lines, and comes in from underneath. We find the way in before anything else.

Rats and mice nest in engine compartments, chew wiring and leave droppings and odor behind. A four-step process to clean it up, treat the vulnerable parts and discourage the next one.

FAQ
Rodent Proofing: common questions
Do you seal the house before or after trapping?
Before. The entry points are sealed first so nothing new gets in, and then we trap and monitor what remains inside until the space is confirmed clear.
Do window well covers stop mice?
A cover helps, but the bigger gap is usually where the well itself meets the foundation, and around the basement window frame. Those get sealed whether or not a cover goes on.
Does sealing help with anything besides rodents?
Usually. The same openings that let a mouse into a basement let in cold air, and in a climate with a winter like this one that costs you every month. Closing the envelope does two jobs at once.
