How Much Does It Cost to Remove Rodents from a Car in Los Angeles?

Quick answer

The price depends on how much nesting material and odor the rodents left, whether an under-hood ultrasonic deterrent suits your car, and whether the garage or house needs work too, which is quoted separately. Repairing chewed wiring is a separate bill from your mechanic or dealership.

In Los Angeles, rats stay active all year and roof rats return to the same nest site, so a quick clean usually turns into a second wiring repair. Call us for a free phone estimate: you get the exact price before anything is booked.

Two different bills

Rodents in a car can lead to two separate costs. One is repairing what they chewed: wiring, insulation and hoses, which is work for a mechanic or a dealership. The other is getting the rodents and their mess out of the engine compartment and keeping them out, which is what we do.

The repair bill is the one that hurts, and it can come around again. If the car goes back to the same driveway with nothing changed, the next rodent can chew the new wiring. If a mechanic or dealership has already repaired rodent-damaged wiring, our treatment is designed to help protect the vehicle from another attack.

What the price covers

Our vehicle rodent removal in Los Angeles is four steps: cleaning and deodorizing with TwinZyme, our professional-strength enzyme treatment; treating vulnerable wiring and other areas under the hood; a deterrent barrier in strategic areas of the engine compartment and vehicle; and, where appropriate, an under-hood ultrasonic deterrent device.

All four are aimed at the same thing: removing the evidence of rodent activity and making the car a place they do not want to come back to.

What changes the price

How much they left behind. A few droppings and a small nest are a different cleanup from an engine compartment full of nesting material and odor.

Whether the device is part of it. The ultrasonic deterrent is added where it suits the vehicle. It is an extra layer, not the whole job.

Whether the house is involved too. If rodents are also getting into the garage or the house, that is rodent control on the building. It is a separate job, and we quote it separately.

Why a cheap fix costs more in Los Angeles

There is no winter here to thin the population, so the pressure on a parked car is the same in February as in August. A car on a driveway, under a carport or beside mature planting stays a target all year.

Roof rats are roughly half of the rodent jobs we have solved in Los Angeles (our own job count, not a population study). UC’s pest note on rats says roof rats prefer warm climates and coastal areas, nest in trees and dense vegetation such as ivy, routinely travel 300 feet or more for food, and have a very strong attachment to their nest site: if it is not dealt with, they return to it.

That is why a nest pulled out by hand, or a deterrent sprayed once, tends to come back as another wiring repair. The four steps exist so the first bill is the last one.
