What actually happens

It starts on the phone. You tell us what you are hearing, where in the building, and at what time of night, and we tell you what that usually means and what the work would involve. That part is free and it is often enough on its own.

Where the source is not obvious from the call, the next step is the Entry Point Diagnostic, and this is what that involves. A technician goes through the building the way a rodent does: into the attic and the crawl space rather than glancing at them from a hatch, along the roofline and the eaves from outside, and across every point where a pipe, wire or duct passes through the building envelope.

How long it takes depends on the building. Larger properties, or houses where the attic and crawl space are hard to move through, take longer.

What you get at the end is specific: where they are getting in, how many of them there are, how far it has spread into the insulation and ducting, and the scope and pricing for the work. You’ll know the recommended scope of work and pricing before moving forward with the next phase.

Why the call comes first

The call costs nothing and carries no obligation, because we would rather hear the symptoms than quote blind - and because a fair number of these calls end with us telling somebody they have one open vent and no infestation. That is a real outcome and it happens often enough to be worth saying out loud.

It comes first because the order of operations matters. Sealing a building before the rodents inside it are removed traps them in, which turns a rodent problem into a dead-animal problem inside your walls.

The Diagnostic is also where the cleanup gets scoped, contaminated insulation, droppings, nesting material and the ducting, so the whole job is priced once rather than growing halfway through.
